State of the Service Report briefings
An executive briefing by the Australian Public Service Commissioner on the key findings of the 2008 State of the Service Report, focusing on issues and the critical challenges for the APS.
Two briefing sessions will be held on 8 December 2008, one for Executive Level employees and one for APS level employees.
Programme overview
- Each year the Australian Public Service Commissioner provides a report to the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Public Service outlining the state of the Australian Public Service (APS) for tabling in Parliament. The annual State of the Service Report draws on a wide range of information sources.
- These briefing session will provide an overview of the key State of the Service Report findings and will focus on issues and the critical challenges for the APS.
- These briefings are an opportunity for APS staff to be informed of the current and emerging issues that affect the APS. The briefings also allow staff to consider the implications for heir organisation of the developments described in the briefing session. This session will help give you the information you need to build the capability of your organisation to address the challenges of the future.

The Commission's Evaluation Group is responsible for managing the preparation of the Public Service Commissioner's annual State of the Service Report to Parliament.
The Evaluation group is also responsible for managing the Commission's specific issues-based evaluation functions and conducts research into Public Administration and supports service-wide research projects.
The Evaluation Group is also responsible for the management of the Australian Public Service Employee Database (APSED).
