Welcome to the Public Service Commissioner's Annual report for 2004-05

The Public Service Commissioner’s Annual Report 2004–05 is provided in accordance with the provisions of section 44 of the Public Service Act 1999. It incorporates the annual report from the Merit Protection Commissioner who reports separately on his statutory responsibilities in part four of this report.

The Annual Report summarises the many achievements made by the Commission during 2004-05 as well as providing information on our performance against our Outcomes—Output structure.

DURING 2004-05

The Australian Public Service Commission had a number of major achievements during 2004—05. To find out more choose from the items below:

Foundations of Governance
Foundations was released in May 2005. The book and web resource provide a whole-of government tool for APS senior managers and executives.

Leading Australia's future in Asia
The LAFIA programme is the Commission’s response to Australia’s increasing engagement with Asia.

Recruiting Indigenous entry level employees
The Commission is taking a lead role in finding ways to improve the number of Indigenous employees in the APS.

State of the Service Report
The State of the Service Report tabled in Parliament in November 2004 identified a number of critical challenges facing the APS.

Connecting Government Conference
Influential leaders from Commonwealth, state and local government came together to look at ways that services and programmes could be delivered in a seamless and integrated manner
