Human Resource Capability Development Programme
Please Note:
The Human Resource Capability Development Program is currently undergoing a review in order to enhance and update the programme in line with current HR better practice within the APS.
Until this review is finalised dates for 2009 programmes are still to be confirmed.
To register your interest in the 2009 programme please send an email to hannah.gillespie@apsc.gov.au and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
The HR Capability Development Programme was specially developed for APS human resource practitioners and managers, based on the HR Capability Development Model.
The Foundation and Extension Programmes have been conducted successfully in Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne many times with demand often exceeding the number of places available.
Programme outline
The HR Capability Development Programme is very practical in its approach and design. The Programme's focus is on developing skills that will give HR people greater ability to be effective in strategic HR roles.
The Programme does not explore HR theory in depth, nor does it focus on the theoretical or operational aspects of different HR practice areas.
What the Programme does do, is help participants develop the capabilities necessary to understand key business issues in their agencies and how these issues need to drive HR services and initiatives.
In a practical hands-on way, participants will learn key skills such as how to:
- Build effective working relationships;
- Be persuasive and influence the HR agenda;
- Develop and present an effective business case: and
- Evaluate the outcome of HR initiatives.
Programme structure and design
The Programme is offered in two versions:
Foundation Programme
The Foundation Programme learnings, discussions and feedback are focussed on developing fundamental capabilities of HR practitioners. Participants have the opportunity to be assessed and accredited in the "Diploma in Government".
Extension Programme
The Extension programme is focussed at more senior and experienced HR practitioners - the learnings, discussions and feedback will ensure this experience is extended and built upon. Extension programme participants have the opportunity to be assessed and accredited against the "Advanced Diploma in Government".
